Uijeongbu Archaeological Site Plaza

Led the conceptual design and spatial programming for "Path Across Time," a protective pavilion and exhibition facility situated over the highly significant Uijeongbu archaeological site. The project required a sensitive yet progressive approach to historical preservation, establishing a contemporary architectural layer that respects the site's Joseon Dynasty origins. By aligning the new facility’s structural grid with the foundational axes of the ancient ruins, the design effectively bridged historical and modern eras.

To facilitate public engagement without compromising the site's integrity, an elevated, three-dimensional circulation strategy was developed to provide immersive, multi-level perspectives of the artifacts. The architectural language utilized a reinterpreted exposed timber framework for the structural core, enclosed within a minimalist glass facade to craft a deliberate visual contrast between the centuries-old relics and the contemporary intervention.
